Mary Ann's Message I am absolutely thrilled that so many of you are uploading your paintings to the site for critique and/or to share your technique. There are so many ways to paint in watercolor and I hope that you can share the way you approach your subject matter. Your suggestions can start with : How do you come up with an idea ? How do you name your paintings? What did you paint first in the scene or still life? Did you draw the image in detail, or do you paint without drawing? What colors did you use? Do you use any tricky techniques like salt, plastic wrap, alcohol? What kind of brushes do you use? Do you have a favorite kind of paper or painting surface? Do you prefer abstract art or realism? If abstract, what is the technique you use? Any or all of these make good copy under your painting. I try to comment on every painting that is uploaded to the site, but I notice that others are doing the same. We can all learn from each other. Please remember that this is an educational site, and not designed to be anyone's personal website for just uploading paintings without comment. In the future, paintings will not be published without technique comments or the request for a critique from me or other visitors to the site.
