'A Portrait'

I painted this picture of model Sophie.... exhibited it and sold it. I was very happy to exhibit it, but as it was a favourite picture I was sad when it sold!! Isn't that always the way it goes though.....

Hi Mary Ann... my palette for this portrait? I don't have what you might call a 'standard palette', but for this one I kept a fairly 'hot' mixture, and used lots of Cad Red, Cad Orange, Yellow Ochre, and a touch of Ultramarine Blue. A little Alizarin to assist with the darks as well.... and of course the white of the paper played a big part.
