Aug 13, 2008 Rating the view by: Mary Ann From a hill above Bagno Vignoni, we could see the landscape beyond. In the foreground are grape vines and Olive trees (the bluish paler color). Poppies grew at our feet and crept through the stonework in walls. Cats walked through the vineyard and I well remember my artist friend, Jill Goetsch, from South Africa who was painting along side. We giggled at the differences in our accents. As a beautiful black and white bird flew past us through the vineyard, I asked her what she thought it was. She said she thought it was a "Shrock" (her pronunciation. When I didn't understand, she stated that in the states we would probably say "Shrike". I will never forget her. She passed away suddenly this past Spring. We had such fun together and I had visited her and her husband in Polokwane, South Africa on my way to the AIDS hospice, Sparrow Village, near Johannesburg.
