Beach Walk 20 minute watercolour-Demonstration for Students.

Beach Walk

Beach Walk

This was to show my students how not to fuss or become to heavy handed.
It is alwoys tempting to paint too much and over paint in watercolours.

For this subject they had to have a black and White copy to paint from so that they saw the tones. then no over painting just it was a lesson of PUT IT DOWN IN ONE OR TWO STROKES. Painting the colours that match the tones.
The sea in the background was painted last so that where it was dark on the figure the water was a little lighter and where it was light on the figure the water was a little darker the same with the beach.
This is my demo.
Oh and it is for Sale and can be posted anywhere in the world. ALL proceeds goes to the poor in Malawi to give them LIVING WATER. In Manyowe Village.

That is my favorite type of w/c painting. I love the use of dark against light. I try to incorporate that into my paintings.

I like the movement and spontaneity of this painting. Very effective use of the white of the paper in portraying light. I know it takes years and years of practice and also talent of course to do something this simple.
