The last watercolor I did on RTISTX watercolor board I used the Golden MSA Varnish spray (satin). After several passes with the spray it began to come out in splatters, even though I'd cleaned the nozzle and followed the directions for use to the letter. Have you had any problems such as this with Golden? Do you spray an isolation coat on your watercolors before using the Golden varnish? If so, what product do you use?
I really loved your demo on the RTISTX w/c board of the snow scene with the barn.
Diane,
I have never had that problem with the Golden spray. I think you need to contact them about it. It must be a faulty can! In the past I used Krylon Triple Thick spray, but it doesn't have a filter in it. You might try that first. You could also try the liquid version of the Golden UVLS product, but remember it is a chemical based product and you cannot use an acrylic over the top if you need to change anything after spraying. Acrylic is water based and would bubble up.
Your paintings are absolutely beautiful. Which ones are on the Rtistx board? I would have loved to see a demo of "Poised for Show". The washes are so smooth and soft. What a talent!
May all your paintings be as passionate as that!
