King Fisher

My first thought is that you need to concentrate on design. The focal point of a painting should never be in the dead center of the paper. Try this one again and offset the bird slightly to the upper right, upper left, lower right or lower left of the page. You will find the result more appealing....and start by wetting your paper and filling in the sky with a smooth wash. Since the bird is darker in color, it can be added after the skywash is complete. Keep trying. It only takes practice, practice, practice!

Cute little guy

He's a cute little guy and nicely done. I would suggest learning how to do a wet in wet background which would eliminate the streaking and make a softer backdrop. Good job on your first attept!
