LONE SNAG

TED,

You are very brave to try watercolors at this time, but I can attest to the fact that you get absorbed in it and forget your troubles. It is infectious!

I never use white or black when painting in watercolor. The white of the paper should be your white, and you paint around it...remembering to shade the whites where necessary. Watercolors on paper should be more transparent so that they glow.

The white of the paper showing through the washes help to make them bright. Work from light to dark and save the details til last and you will be delighted with the results. Remember: Lights and brights first. All other colors can be painted over them, but light colors cannot be successfully painted over darks. Save that for the oil painters. GOOD LUCK!!!

Ted, I can't tell what medium you are using. Is it watercolor or oil?
