Thank you Mary Ann! I did this on canvas paper with watercolor, and that made it difficult to keep color on. (I was very very new when I painted this)and never had a lesson. (This was done before I came to your site.)
I agree I could be bolder with color, (it was not because of cost, just inexperience. (I quit before I ruined it,LOL!)
Thank you! Appreciate your comments and the encouraging stars!

Who wouldn't love those eyes? From what I see you are timid with the use of color. Be bold and courageous. You are painting in water....color....You need both of those things to make it work. Water....to keep the painting from looking dry, and COLOR to give it substance. Forget that the paints are expensive. That is hard to overcome, but really they go a very long way. Your drawing skills are obviously good, so just concentrate on color and blending. Perhaps you should try other subject that require more color, like landscapes. With landscape painting you can be more free in your approach and learn to use the colors more boldly. Then progress to the animals. But I LOVE those eyes!
