Wonderful
by: Nirmal

It takes pure talent to evoke the dynamism of light, the beauty of delicate contour, delineate clear shape while maintaining some elusiveness. Just pure genius and ofcourse TALENT. Bravo to you.

I'd put it on my wall anytime

Beautiful painting, love the realistic quality of the light and color. The subtile effect used on the pots that are partially submerged in the water are excellent.

Interesting comments -thanks for your input re my painting Pots! Lynne- focal point is the pot that contains the water, but my mission was to create a faithful rendition of these old AGA pots that had been discarded in the Shropshire valley. The painting is quite small for me 12"x12" approx, so needed a tight and controlled application with multiple washes to achieve depth and tonal range. Re Anonymous's comment -lol fortunately for me there are quite a few collectors happy to add my work to their walls - but thats the difference between looking and actually seeing.

The emperor has no clothes!
by: Lynne

I think that the artist is extremely talented and should be given his due for that. I too feel that "pots" doesn't evoke much emotion as compared to his other work submitted which at least invited the viewer to look more closely. I personally prefer paintings that are not photographic in character and feel that the emotion evoked by a painting is far, far more important than the excellence of the technique. However, I think that Mr. Poxon has succeeded in stirring some lively debate so who is to say that his work has no merit! One last comment and that is that I can't find his focal point at all. Since you commented on it, please, can you tell me where is it Mary Ann?

Opinion
by: Kris

I guess we're all entitled to our opinion. The last someone that felt they needed to remain anonymous because of that opinion. Sad. I don't feel that art can be judged. It just is. And it all has quality whether you like the subject matter or not.

Ugly Pots
by: Anonymous

I certainly would not want this hanging on my walls. While I believe you can find beauty in anything, this is really ugly. Better subject matter and colors. Next - a series of garbage cans.

Pots

I am really impressed with your painting style. You seem to know that dark shadows can really bring a painting to life and make the viewer focus on the focal point. Congratulations! And thank you for adding such beauty to my "tips" site.
