This is one of our homebred Shetland Sheepdogs sold to a good friend. The underpainting on this black and white dog is lavender and I tried to include many colors in the fur especially where the yellow might be reflected on the edges. The next time I think I will paint fur in clumps rather than in individual strokes and we'll see how that works.

I have a sable shetland sheep dog and the face of the sheltie is more sharp featured than in your picture, but I do love all sheep dogs,A Scot from Aussie

I like the way the dog is painted, but I find that the flowers in the background looking as if they are on top of the dog's head. To correct the design, the flowers should be above or below the head. The dog's right ear is a "tangent" with the flowers....in other words, the ear is in perfect line with the flowers. Look for things like that in your compositions so that continuous lines are broken up. It would have been best to have the dog's ear stick above the line of the flowers.
