Believe me I would rather do my own work from my own mind. But when ur in a class the instructor asks you to do something so that he can see what u can do and where ur perspective is. It is a learning tool. And my picture is much different than the photo on the post card. There was an entire village on the post card. My attempt was to get the water and sky as best as I could. thank you for ur input. I do agree.

I would prefer that you use your own subject matter so that you are more familiar with the scene. To copy a printed scene, such as a postcard or something from a magazine is infringing on copyrights. Your work may not look like the printed matter, but you are still using the composition and talent of the original artist. Try working from your own photos and I think you will be just as pleased.
