The Grape

Watercolor, Grapes on the steps.

Watercolor, Grapes on the steps.

My second project in a private paint class. Our teacher says paint something you love to look at and I love to look at the still life's I have at home so I took elements from three different pictures and put my own vision on paper. It is a watercolor and I did get a passing grade. Actually my teacher and classmates where very impressed, since it was only my second watercolor. I've never painted anything besides the walls in my house so this has been a very rewarding experiment for me. I hope every one who sees it likes it and please feel free to comment and critique, it's the only way we learn. Thank You.

For a second attempt, this is quite good. Some pointers:
The grapes could have more highlights, since they are usually shiny in appearance. That would add more contrast. Your values are all quite similar so you need some "punch". Keep up the good work.
