Tree Shapes

Varied Tree Shapes

I just ran across a reference for different tree shapes that I show my students periodically. It might help you when you are painting trees. Another thing to remember is to allow the tree branches to run off the page.

So many beginners seem to be trying to keep everything in the middle of the page. The closer the tree is to the viewer, the less likely one can see the entire tree, so allow its branches to extend beyond the paper!
