Great Exercise
by: Anonymous

This is a great exercise for learning how to paint negative shapes. If you want to do this exercise again, next time you can try to paint the entire paper (wet on wet)using 3 different colors that work well together, a red,a yellow, a blue, for instance, it will also create nice secondary colors.

Once it dries you can make darks and paint the negative spaces and continue to get darker shapes to create depth.

This way your trees aren't just one color and you'll get a more interesting painting.

I reccommend the DVD Painting Outside the Lines: A positive approach to negative painting with Linda Kemp. It's all about negative painting and it's great!

GOOD JOB!
