About 35 x 22cm.... reference photo was of a child, but I liked the position of hands in particular, and as I concentrated on those I think I made the subject androgynous.

Thank you Mary Ann....it's really super to get the feedback. I do love painting hands and also eyes.... to me those are the most expressive four (!) features in a portrait.

Pauline,

I like the liberties you took with your subject. It portrays many emotions, yet seems so peaceful. Your mastery of painting hands is amazing, as so many artists have never gotten it correct. The fact that you played up the eyes is very important, as they are the focal point of the piece. Keep up the good work.
