Hi Mary Ann,

I'm interested that you are venturing into acrylics!

I have been doing some work in watercolor and gouache and love what I have discovered!!

Navajo Reflections, showing in Gallipolis at the FRENCH ART COLONY in the month of February, is done first with watercolor and then followed by many, many layers of gouache. I used only 3 primary colors and had a blast!

I can't wait to see and hear about your acrylics venture!!!

W/C AND ACRYLICS

Donna,
I thought I had written you about the acrylics. I actually had a show of the ones done with a palette knife this winter. All of them can be seen on my other website: http://www.maboysen.com/Acrylic.htm

Acrylics
by: Mary Ann

This is for Donna Clark...I am now really painting in acrylics as much as possible. Since I began using a palette knife, I am smitten! Take a look at this site: http://www.maboysen.com/Acrylic.htm/
Still teaching watercolor, however. Both are now my passion!

heavy body acrylics with enhancer
by: Anonymous

Yep, I bet that flo enhancer enhanced the flow :)

I've not used the heavy body acrylics yet. Just can't wait to see visuals of your experiments!!

Sure wish I lived closer to you!! I'd love to visit in person, see your studio, share painting thoughts!!

God bless!

Donna,
I used Heavy Body Acrylics with the flo enhancer (and probably too much water). I'll get it right eventually.

acrylics on canvas or paper
by: Donna Pierce-Clark

Mary Ann,
What kind of acrylics were you using? Tube? Or liquid acrylics? Or did you just water it down alot?

acrylics
by: Mary Ann

Donna,

Well, so far I am not having much luck. I tried acrylics in an aqueous manner on a canvas panel that I gessoed. So far the color is running off the page all over my desk! I think, though, that I will start with a heavier body acrylic to finish the piece. Obviously, using the aqueous method with acrylics should be done on paper.
