When do you put the blue down?

by Jeanne

I love your newsletters and have one question about the first step for A Snowy Landscape. You mention mixing gold, pink and blue, separately and you have the steps of putting them down on paper, but when do you put the blue down? You mention putting the gold down first, then the pink and that is it. Thanks very much.

Mary Ann:
Jeanne, I usually wait until the first two washes have dried before I put down the blue. But I re-wet the paper first so the edges will be soft.

I had intended to send illustrations along with the newsletter, but can't paint for another few weeks. This page and the back-issued newsletter will be updated with images as soon as I can use my hand.

All of my future newsletters, as with content on my site, will be fully illustrated.
